About Dr Ken Marriott’s Qualifications and Experience

Educated at Monash University in geography, environmental studies and education.  Ken holds memberships of Parks and Leisure Australia (Life member); National Recreation and Parks Association (U.S.A.) and World Leisure and Recreation Association. He also holds the Frank Stewart award for distinguished service to the recreation industry in Australia.

In the 80s Ken’s career started in teaching at both school and university level. He then worked as a Recreation Consultant and Policy Advisory for the State of Victoria in the Department Youth, Sport and Recreation. He chaired the Upper Yarra Valley Management Consultative Committee, Upper Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges Authority. 

Since 1982 Ken has managed his own recreation planning consultancy including being the Managing Director of HM LEISURE PLANNING until 2016.  Ken retains his connections with education as a part-time Senior Lecturer and Visiting Lecturer at Victoria University.  He has published widely.

For 5 years Ken ran a very successful program of HM Leisure Planning training courses.  On completion award nights were held and the photos of award nights in 2012 and 2014 are available via the links.

Ken retired from HM Leisure Planning Pty Ltd in 2016 but continues to  consult or subconsult with other businesses providing his wide array of experience & professional expertise.
